The South Stadium Parking Structure at the University of Arizona significantly enhances parking amenities for daily users as well as attendees of special events.

This multi-story facility offers a unique opportunity for the University to connect with and serve the expanded Student Recreation Center, the multi-purpose recreational field, and Arizona Stadium.

The architectural design was guided by site-specific guidelines, programming, and visioning provided by the University, ensuring it aligns with the north end-zone revisions at Arizona Stadium.

Community engagement played a crucial role in the design process. Through feedback gathered during community workshops, DFDG created a structure that is sensitive to the needs of the surrounding residents. The parking structure features five levels, each three bays wide, with the top level reduced to two bays to minimize building massing near the residential area. The exterior boasts brick and block walls with high arches to highlight entrances and exits.

A key focus was reducing the time required to exit the facility after football games. The ramping system was meticulously designed to enable the complete exiting of the parking structure within approximately thirty minutes.

This thoughtful approach ensures that the South Stadium Parking Structure not only meets the practical needs of the University and its visitors but also respects and responds to the concerns of the local community.
