The newly completed Maricopa Municipal Court is a testament to the City’s dedication to providing its residents with accessible and efficient legal services. This state-of-the-art 6,000-square-foot facility was designed and constructed within an impressive 12-month timeframe, underscoring the city’s commitment to justice and community welfare.
The design for the City’s first stand-alone courthouse goes beyond aesthetics, aiming to enrich the daily experiences of both visitors and staff. Key features of the facility include a secure lobby, a 2,000-square-foot courtroom, almost 3,000 square feet of judge and staff offices, and expansion space for a future second courtroom.
DFDG is proud to have contributed to a facility designed to ensure a transparent and accessible legal system, fostering trust and security within the City of Maricopa community.
The City of Maricopa’s Municipal Court is a newly completed 6,000 SF facility serving as the City of Maricopa’s first standalone courthouse. Completed in 2024, it was designed to provide Maricopa residents with accessible, efficient, and trustworthy legal services in a facility built to serve.
The facility features a secure lobby, a 2,000 SF courtroom, nearly 3,000 SF of judge and staff office space, and built-in expansion capacity for a future second courtroom. The design was intended to balance security with accessibility, creating a space that serves both the public and court staff effectively.
Maricopa Municipal Court supports courts and justice needs in Maricopa, AZ. As the city’s first standalone courthouse, this facility represents a meaningful step in Maricopa’s civic infrastructure. Rather than relying on shared or temporary court facilities, the city now has a dedicated, purpose-designed space that supports a transparent and accessible justice system, and is built to grow with the community.
DFDG Architecture served as architect for the project, working closely with the City of Maricopa to design a facility that meets the functional requirements of a modern municipal court while reflecting the civic identity of a fast-growing community.
The project was delivered using the Job Order Contracting (JOC) method, which allowed for accelerated design and construction timelines by leveraging pre-established contractor relationships and pricing structures. This approach was well-suited to the city’s goal of delivering the facility quickly and within budget.
