The PetSmart design concept emphasizes textures, colors, and shapes inspired by pet “SPOTs.”

These SPOTs reinforce PetSmart’s values of Smart, Partnership, Opportunity, and Training, relating to their core business entities: employees, pets, and customers. They also provide intuitive wayfinding paths throughout the three-building complex.

DFDG provided architecture and interior design, programming, space planning, and documentation for two new four-story buildings, one existing four-story building, and a four-story parking structure. The design team created a typical office floor plan for the new buildings, offering a cohesive and consistent work environment. Each building is divided into sections by centrally locating the offices adjacent to the building’s core and positioning the “social” and “core” functions in a direct line of connection between the elevator core and outbound stair.

Specialized areas such as training rooms are located on the first floor of the new buildings for easy campus access. The existing building was modified to incorporate similar design elements and strategically placed core functions while maximizing the existing construction to unify the design concept throughout.
